Where to go for High Tea

I recommend stopping at The Pump Room to experience high tea with the works.

Here you get a bit of everything on your tiered tray – sweets, sandwiches, scones, clotted cream, and, of course, a pot of tea to wash it all down.

The setting is perfect for high tea as well. It’s a little bit posh, a little bit fancy, and there was even a pianist playing background music when I was there.

Pastries on the go

Of course, you need to try a sausage roll and/or pasty (similar to a calzone) while you’re visiting. They’re classic fast foods!

You can find these all around town, but I recommend stopping at the Cornish Bakehouse. They have sweet and savory foods so there is a bit of everything.

This is something you can get on the go as you are out and about exploring the city. There are two locations, I recommend the one near Thermae Bath Spa.

Seafood dinner

If you’d like to head out for a nice meal, check out Loch Fyne Seafood & Grill for a delicious seafood meal.

The food was amazing, but I also liked that they had an open kitchen so you could watch all the chefs as they prepared meals. It was really cool to see, and you can’t help but have so much respect for chefs and how they juggle so much while still creating great food.

Keep an eye out for the different specials each night – I went on a night where they had a seafood special and it was a real treat.

Cozy, fine dining

Clayton’s Kitchen is a great choice for a cozy, fine dining experience especially if you stay at the Halcyon Apartments (more details below).

I visited Bath on a solo trip, and I know some people can be intimidated by eating alone, but I think it’s a great opportunity for some quiet time and treat yo’self time too. When the setting is this cozy and the food is this good, it makes solo dining easy.

Thai Food

I’m always quick to try Thai food when I’m traveling because there are no good places where I live so it’s a real treat!

If you’re looking for something different and want some Thai food, recommend visiting Charm Thai.

It has a nice ambiance, great food, and it’s reasonably priced.

A classic pub meal

Another one of the must-do’s in terms of what to eat when you visit England is having a classic pub meal. Especially fish and chips.

I went to Saracens Head which was great because it also had sports on the TV’s in the pub. If you want to get into the rugby spirit, here’s your place.

If you’re not into fish and chips, you can also try other things like burgers and pies.

Where to stay in Bath

I stayed at the Halcyon Apartments and it was a fantastic place to stay.

The apartments were cozy, comfortable and spacious. They were also self-catered which was helpful because I could make breakfast and some meals in the apartment, then go out to enjoy some nice meals in town.

The location was convenient, especially as a solo female traveler, because it was only a short walk to the center of town and train station.

If you prefer somewhere else, I recommend looking on Booking.com. This is what I use to book accommodation when I travel and it’s a great place to find a good deal – especially if you make an account with their loyalty program.

What to do in Bath

Bath is a fantastic destination for a city break. It’s very easy to walk around each day exploring the unique sights like the Roman Baths, Bath Abbey, and the relaxing Thermae Bath Spa.

It’s also a great location for a day trip to Stonehenge.

I wrote a full guide of things to do in Bath here which I recommend checking out to help plan your visit.
