UPDATED MAR 2020. Just a short train ride from Lisbon will whisk you away to a castle filled wonderland with a lot to explore. To really get through it all you would need a couple of days, but if you only have a day to spend in Sintra you can still see a lot. On the day I visited it rained the whole time. Probably a good time to mention that travel blogging isn't all glamorous like people think,  sometimes you are standing out in the cold rain for three days trying to get pictures! UPDATED MAR 2020. In my opinion, a walking food tour of Lisbon is a must-do. I had heard other travelers talk about how amazing the food was in Portugal and I wanted to try as much as possible. There was a catch though. I was traveling alone and I didn't have a big budget to buy a lot of different meals. Hmmm, what to do, what to do? After a little Googling, I jumped on the chance to do this walking food tour. It turned out to be a fantastic experience because I got to go off the beaten path and experience a range of foods from hole in the wall places which is why I'm sharing it here today.

UPDATED MAR 2020. It's an 18th-century building that has been delicately resuscitated and given a new chance at life as a charming, boutique hotel. Welcome to the Heritage Avenida Liberdade Hotel which is a charming Lisbon hotel for solo travelers. I was a guest during my recent trip to Lisbon and it was my first time in Portugal. I was welcomed with almost nonstop rain! Though I was a little unlucky on the weather side of things, I was certainly lucky with the choice of hotel. The location, extra facilities, and pool allowed me to relax and forget the gloomy weather. Let's take a closer look at what made it so special.
