Where to park for the Cascate del Silan hike
There are two options to get to the hike.
The first is to park in the free parking lot on Contrà Chiesa Valrovina – coordinates 45°47’16.8″N 11°41’44.3″E.
The other option is to park at the other end of the trail (coordinates 45°46’58.2″N 11°41’53.6″E) and follow the path to the waterfall from this end. There’s only enough room on the side of the road for a couple of cars here though. I think it’s more convenient to park in the lot and walk through the town.
Plus, then it’s easy to stop by the gelato store on your way back!
How to get to the trailhead
From the parking lot, you just walk towards the town, follow the road to the left, then take the left path going downhill when it forks.
Once you turn you’ll see a sign pointing you to the Cascate del Silan and you just follow this straight until it turns into a gravel road.
If you need better visuals, you can see more in my vlog of the hike.
If you park at the other option on the side of the road, you’re at the trailhead for that end.
What to expect on the trail
It starts off as a gravel trail and it very easy to follow. There are signs along the way to lead you to the waterfall.
It turns into a rocky path that takes you downhill a little – don’t go all the way to the bottom though. That takes you to the start of another trail that’s been closed for ages.
Instead, when you see the path to the right, follow that and you’ll be at the waterfall. There’s a small sign where this turn is, but it’s facing the other way so you’ll just see the back of the sign.
If you park from the other end, it’s a similar trail though you will be walking uphill and the path to the waterfall will be on your left instead of right.
The waterfall area
Cascate del Silan is a small waterfall with a little pond that trickles away over rocks. It’s not the type you would swim under but there’s enough room to take some photos and relax out of the heat.
From where you arrive, you can walk across the rocks to the other side where there is a path to view it from higher ground. This is where you get a better view from the top.
From there you can also reach a small natural pool above the waterfall.
It’s past the fence and you have to climb the rocks to get there – it’s not part of the maintained trail or anything. Go at your own risk.
The water in the pool is quite deep, super refreshing, and adds a little extra fun to the time there.

Safety tips for hiking to Silan falls
It can be a little slippery, especially if it has been raining, so wear good shoes and take your time.
I like the New Balance Minimus for hikes like this because they have good grip and they’re super lightweight and breathable. I can walk through the water and not worry about them getting soaked because they dry fast.
If it has been raining a lot, that will make the waterfall nice and full. But just use a little caution if you swim in case of a late surge of water or anything like that.
The only other tip I have is not so much a safety tip but something to make it more comfortable. Wear insect repellent for this hike because as with most waterfall hikes, there are a lot of mosquitoes around.
