Before I visited the Keys, I knew one of the must-eat foods was Key Lime Pie. And you know what? I didn’t know just how good it would be or how much I’d fall in love with those sweet, citrus flavors. It became an adventure in itself to experience and appreciate how this one food could be slightly different at each place, as each creator prepared it with their own special twist. Today we are taking our sweet tooth on a tour with this guide on where to get the very best Key Lime Pie in Key Largo. I doubt you’re going to find a bad pie in Key Largo, but if you’re looking for where to go, I hope this helps get you started.
Here’s Where To Get The Best Key Lime Pie In Key Largo

The Fish House
My favorite Key Lime Pie on the list can be found at the Fish House.
It’s the all-rounder that balances the sweetness, zesty citrus, and creaminess in perfect harmony. The generous meringue topping gives it a decadent aesthetic that’s as much of a treat to the eyes as the pie is to the tastebuds.
It’s also a fantastic place to eat especially if you’re looking a fresh catch of the day caught by local fisherman.

The Lazy Lobster
The Lazy Lobster was my favorite place to eat in Key Largo overall. But it is also a great spot to get your hands on some Key Lime Pie.
This homemade creation is a super sweet pie topped with meringue and cream because life’s too short to not get both, isn’t it?The crumbly cheesecake style base provides the perfect foundation for this showstopper.
It goes down well after you get one of the fantastic lobster dinner specials – I got one topped with a crab cake which was incredible.

Key Largo Fisheries Backyard Cafe
If you prefer to feast by the water, check out the Key Largo Fisheries Backyard Cafe.
I think it deserves a spot on the list of best Key Lime Pie in Key Largo for the location alone. I sat on a barstool by the edge of the water and saw sharks and tarpon swimming as I ate my pie. It’s hard to beat that for a view!
The pie itself matched the casual ambiance of the location. Nothing overly decadent or over the top. Just sweet, fresh, and delicious with a crumbly cookie base and touch of cream to top it off.

The Key Lime Pie Factory
If you’d like your pie to come with a side of tourist attraction, check out the Blond Giraffe Key Lime Pie Factory in Tavernier.
Here you can try four different types of pie – meringue topped, cream topped, chocolate topped, and even a pie on a stick. There’s a gorgeous outdoor area surrounded by lots of greenery to sit and enjoy your pie.
I tried the chocolate topped pie and loved the uniqueness of it as well as the fresh, zesty taste underneath that layer of chocolate.
If you really love the key lime flavor, you can also choose from a range of key lime flavored goodies to buy.

Mrs Macs Kitchen
Another good place to stop is Mrs Macs Kitchen. There are two locations and I went to the original one.
The Key Lime Pie here is made fresh daily and you can taste the fresh goodness in every bite.
I personally love the creaminess of this pie because it gave it a flavor and taste that was unlike any other I had. Still sweet, still zesty but also deliciously creamy.
I also liked the cool ambiance of the restaurant. Like many places on the list, you can also stop in for a meal before you devour the delicious pie.

Sundowners
Another place where you can eat your Key Lime Pie on the water is Sundowners.
I remember what made this pie different for me was the ginger flavor in base and the emphasis on zesty, acidic citrus flavor. If you prefer the citrus flavor over sweetness, then this would be a good one to try.
You’re also going to get a really good meal here (another place for some nice lobster) and great sunset views. It’s also close to the hotel I recommend at the end of this post so you can have a few cocktails with dinner then walk back to the hotel.

Hungry Tarpon Restaurant at Robbie’s
Lastly, it’s just a little away from Key Largo (just under 40 minutes from the hotel I recommend below), but Robbie’s is worth the drive.
What makes this one different is the cordial like drizzle that covers it and the cheesecake style of the pie. The restaurant has a cool setting and you’ll find signed notes of money decorating the roof and walls.
It’s not the best Key Lime Pie in my opinion. But, since you can also go kayaking, buy local goodies from the open air market, and hand feed the huge tarpon fish, it’s definitely worth visiting.

Where to stay in Key Largo
If you’re planning a visit, I recommend staying at the Reefhouse Resort and Marina (formerly Marriott Key Largo Bay Beach Resort.) I stayed here and between the location, beach (and beach bar), and range of activities, it was a real treat.
You can read my full review of it here if you’d like more information.
You can also get a slice of Key Lime Pie delivered to your room!
Otherwise, I recommend doing a search on Booking.com which is what I usually use to book my accommodation. It’s proven to be the best site for me and I can always snag a good deal there.
