Any Vikings fans here? I’m a big fan of the show and have loved finding Viking related experiences in places as I travel. So braid your hair and get your shield, because today I’m sharing 6 places to visit if you love the show Vikings. These should give you some ideas of where to go to light up the Viking nerd in you!

1. Reykjavík, Iceland
Of course, Iceland is a great choice for a destination to get your Viking fix.
I really enjoyed the Saga Museum which had a collection of great exhibits with lifelike statues, interesting stories, and even a place to dress up in costume and take photos.
You can also walk along the waterfront to see the popular Sun Voyager statue.
To feast like a Viking, check out the Viking restaurant Ingólfsskáli which is about 45 minutes drive from Reykjavík.
Where to stay:
I stayed at Alda Hotel which was fantastic. I also got to visit but not stay at the Hotel Viking just outside of the city center and would love to stay there!

2. Oslo, Norway
Oslo is another great destination to visit if you love the show Vikings.
When you are there you can’t miss the Viking Ship Museum, where you can see actual Viking ships and artifacts from the Viking age. They are incredible to see!
I also recommend taking a day trip to Vestfold to visit the Midgard Viking Center and see the Viking burial mounds.

I have stayed at Thon Hotel Rosenkrantz and First Hotel Millenium and recommend both. The location, value for money, service, and rooms were fantastic at both.

3. Stockholm, Sweden
The Viking Museum in Sweden is small but impressive with interesting and interactive exhibits. You can read plaques, watch videos, and dress up while you learn about Vikings.
The best part, in my opinion, is the ride at the end where you sit in a small rollercoaster like cart. But, instead of a rollercoaster, it drives you through a Viking story and this was a really cool feature of the museum.
While you’re in Stockholm you can also check out the largest collection of preserved runestones. For this free Viking themed hike, head to the Jarlabanke Bridge for the official trail entrance. It’s about 30 minutes drive from Stockholm.
When you’ve worked up a hunger, feast in the great hall at Aifur where you can experience a Viking themed restaurant.

4. Dublin, Ireland
Dublin is another fantastic destination where you can get add a little Viking history to your vacation.
You can visit Wicklow where they actually film the show Vikings. Here you can see the location for ‘Kattegat’ and imagine the houses and boats set up there by the water. It’s also just a beautifully scenic area to visit.
There is also the Museum of Archeology in Dublin where you can see a Viking skeleton and some artifacts from the Viking age.
Where to stay:
I stayed at both Stauntons on the Green and Number 31 and both were fantastic. Stauntons had more of a cozy B&B feel, while Number 31 had more of a modern townhouse feel, but I enjoyed both.

5. Falaise, France
Remember Ragnar’s brother Rollo in the show? I mean, who could forget him right?
He started as a Viking and went on to become the first ruler of Normandy and you can see his statue in Falaise.
Another interesting stop in Falaise is to see the Castle of William the Conqueror which is behind the statue of Rollo. Here you can walk through a castle while learning about one of Rollo’s descendants.
Where to stay:
I stayed at an Airbnb for this trip to combine it with visiting the D-Day beaches, however for hotels in Falaise, I would search on Booking.com.

6. Vardø, Norway
The last one is a little more off the beaten path, but a very cool spot for fans of Vikings.
Drakkar is an impressive looking sculpture of a Viking ship, whale and dinosaur that looks out over the sea. There’s a short hike to get out to it, but it’s on flat ground so suitable for all fitness levels.
The hike is well worth it when you spend time at the Viking ship at the edge of the world.
Where to stay:
I based myself in Vadsø which is about an hour away and stayed at an Airbnb on this trip. If you prefer hotels, I would stay at the Scandic Vadsø.
